Sum18-14 N x K x Wetter, Binnu

AIM

To evaluate if wetter coated seed improves wheat establishment in drier conditions and if this results in more effective use of nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) fertilizer application.

CONCLUSION

  • Wetter coated seed significantly improved establishment by an extra 10 plants/m2 (p=0.04).
  • There was a significant NDVI difference between N rates (p
  • Yield significantly increased with N application.
There was a 46% yield increase from 6 kg N/ha to 60 kg N/ha. Using K and wetter coated seed had no effect on yield or grain quality.
  • Protein was relatively low across the trial and all treatments went ASW1.
Profits increased with yield from $730/ha up to $1070/ha.
