Custom Formulation

Our blending facilities allow farmers to design fertilizers suitable to their individual paddock requirements.

An extensive range of trace elements can also be added to our products.

Blending

In 1992, we introduced our world class blending and despatch facilities to Western Australian. Ever since then, this has allowed farmers to custom blend the precise balance of nutrients required for their enterprise.

When blending fertilizer, we recommend only blending similar sized products to avoid separation in transport. All Summit’s blending products are between 2 and 4mm.

Please note that a small number of products cannot be mixed, due to chemical reaction or increased hygroscopic properties of the mixture.

Trace Elements

When blending, a number of trace elements can be added to our products, including: AgSul 90, boronate, cobalt, copper sulphate, copper, copper molybdenum, iron, kieserite, manganese sulphate, selenium, zinc and zinc sulphate.

Critical Humidity of Fertilizer Salts and Mixtures at 30°C

Both DAP and urea absorb moisture at around 75% relative humidity. When mixed together they absorb moisture at 62% relative humidity, making this mix potentially difficult to use.

The above chart illustrates the way that two fertilizers will absorb atmospheric moisture at a reduced humidity when blended. Under these conditions, the blends will need to be treated carefully by adding builders lime and covering with black plastic in storage.

As a general rule, mixtures with a critical humidity of less than 65% are not suited to bulk handling unless used immediately after mixing.

Fungicide Coating

Summit’s fungicide coating service offers a safer and easier alternative to on-farm coating. With our state-of-the-art equipment, fungicide can be coated on almost 100% of the granules, which is vital to ensure fungicide efficacy and distribution.

Our premium and full compound fertilizers are best suited for fungicide coating, however other products may be coated upon request. We currently coat using the following fungicides.

Impact®

  • Active ingredient: Flutriafol
  • Supplied by FMC
  • Helps control blackleg in canola crops, plus stripe rust and take-all in cereal crops.
  • Long lasting residual effect

For more information, view the tech note.

UNIFORM®

  • Active ingredients: Azoxystrobin and Metalaxyl-M
  • Supplied by Syngenta
  • Helps control Rhizoctonia and Pythium in wheat and barley, in addition to other fungal diseases.

For more information, view the tech note.

Please note: Washing of vehicles that have carried fertilizer treated with agricultural chemical, including fungicides, inhibitors and/or biostimulants is a requirement under the Grain Trade Australia (GTA) Grain Transport Code of Practice.

BiOWiSH Product Offering

Improve nutrient uptake from your fertilizer, requiring no practice changed with an average yield response of 7.7% across 13 local trials in 2024.

An Enhanced Efficiency Fertilizer product range utilising bacteria, designed to improve nutrient uptake from fertilizer and enhance plant root biomass and other beneficial bacteria.

Making use of the rhizophagy cycle to form a symbiotic relationship with plant roots, resulting in a process where greater root mass and enhanced root nutrient uptake can be seen. BiOWiSH has conducted over 1900 trials to support the product with a positive result in 86% of trials, and an average yield response of 7.7% across all crops (excluding barley).

BiO CL

Applied to seeding fertilizer blends or compounds at dispatch at all Summit Fertilizer depots, requiring no alterations to standard practice. It also can be applied along with flutriafol.

BiO CP

Granular product supplied and distributed by Summit Fertilizers to be mixed with UAN, allowing for flexibility in application across specific areas of farms, and trialing of the product on different crops.

N-Shield Product Offering

The N-Shield range is designed to optimise nitrogen efficiency and is the first of our Enhanced Efficiency Fertilizer products (EEF). Summit Fertilizers can supply and coat urease and nitrification inhibitors which can reduce volatilisation and denitrification losses.

The primary aim is to increase the effectiveness of nitrogen utilisation for farmers leading to increased profitability. View the N-Shield Flyer here and speak with your local Area Manager for more information.

A time-lapse N-Shield video can be viewed below, for more information and technical data, visit the N-Shield website.

ALOSCA Granular Inoculants

In addition to offering a specialist Legume range of fertilizers, Summit has partnered with ALOSCA Technologies, so that we can offer granular legume inoculants pre-blended into fertilizer for added convenience to growers.

ALOSCA granular inoculants activate on the same seasonal triggers as the sown legume, maintaining the viability of the Rhizobia bacteria until required by the plant and after germination.

  • Groups C (Sub-Clover) and G/S (Lupin and Serradella) can be mixed with fertilizer to supply inoculant.
  • This service is available at all Summit depots.
  • As this is a biological product, we require advance notice to ensure product availability.
